GM Financial Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A in Detroit, Michigan

This position is on the International Operations Finance team and will be directly responsible for forecasting, analyzing and reporting for several countries in International Operations. The Financial Analyst is responsible for coordinating, conducting and documenting various financial analyses in support of the International Operations business including development of the annual business plan as well as subsequent interim periodic forecasts and month-end close / flash estimations. This individual will work closely with the local CFOs and FP&A teams to provide financial analysis, modeling and forecasting support. This individual will also work with IO’s managing directors and senior leadership to develop analytical support for economic impacts and will conduct or participate in ad-hoc analysis projects.

  • Prepare financial forecasts, analysis and reports or schedules

  • Develop, maintain and administrate financial models

  • Support local businesses across International Operations in forecast creation and monthly variance analysis

  • Collaborate with various departments, understanding and projecting impacts on financial forecasts

  • Support quantification and communicate Risk and Opportunities to forecast to senior leadership

  • Assist in the preparation of management reporting – actuals, variance analysis, and forecasting

  • Contribute to ad hoc analytical projects as necessary both within and beyond your primary area of focus

  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Risk, Treasury Ops, BSM and other partners to ensure enterprise objectives are met

  • Support Business Areas through trending and variance analysis, assumption reviews, reporting formats

  • Analyze and communicate forecast results


  • Minimum 3-5 years previous work experience in Finance or Accounting related field

  • BS/BBA degree in Accounting/Finance required

  • Advanced degree or CPA/CFA (or working toward) preferred

  • Proven track record of driving for results with minimal ongoing direction

  • Proven track record of influencing decisions with great analytics

  • Highly skilled in excel and willingness to learn new systems (i.e., Essbase, Oracle, SAS)
