Crain Communications Research Assistant in Detroit, Michigan

font class="bold"Description/fontfont class="bold"/fontspanAs a member of the Automotive News Research Data Center (the "Center") team, the Research Assistant is responsible for working with the Center Director, other Center data analysts and the Custom Solutions manager to develop, deploy, analyze and author insights on behalf of clients, the Automotive News Editorial team and/or other internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include but are not limited to understanding industry and market trends to help inform client and/or industry research needs and objectives, serve as an advisor to building research instruments (surveys, focus groups, executive interviews, etc.), manage research programs, analyzing and summarizing data, and authoring research reports.span /spanthespan /spanis responsible for day-to-day data operations of direct marketing programs. Working under the direction of the Center Director, this person designs data structures, tests new functionality to ensure data is handled accurately, manipulates and generates files, designs and generates reports, and performs quality assurance tasks. The Research Assistant will interact with clients and internal management, and considerable interaction with third party data providers and subscribers./spanbrbrbResponsibilities/bdivspanspan*/span/spanspanOwn substantive elements of the Center's research agenda by planning and executing research activities and selecting suitable methodologies to explore research needs/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanDevelop compelling insights by synthesizing complex qualitative and quantitative data and communicate them in ways that make clear their implications and spur innovation/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanSupport the design and facilitation of engaging surveys, focus groups, executive interview guides, workshops with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanSynthesize key trends, sourced data and insight from industry and domain experts to amplify the impact of the Center's research deliverables/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanContribute to the development of client pitches and intellectual property with research into trends in the automotive, mobility and transportation industries/span/divbDesired Qualifications/bdivspanspan*/span/spanspanBachelor's degree or equivalent experience/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanMinimum 2 years market/industry research experience/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanMust have experience /spanspanin:/spanspan MS Excel - VBA macros; Excel Automation from external programs; SQL - preferably on multiple Microsoft data platforms including Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanStrong understanding of market research, consumer insights, and digital metrics/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanAbility to combine strong research methodology principles with tactical execution, including experience in developing research plans that combine qualitative and quantitative methods/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanMust be an exceptional communicator able to interact with stakeholders and author research reports/span/divdivspanspan*/span/spanspanAutomotive, mobility and/or transportation industry experience
