Financial AnalystMichigan Location Job Description: ICF is seeking a Jr. Financial Analyst in the Detroit, Michigan area to provide financial support, track portfolio budgets, track monthly invoices, monitor subcontractor spend and to assist in building client-based financial reporting infrastructure in the Central Region. This person will hold an undergraduate degree in business, finance or accounting. This role will also support the ongoing development of a financial model that integrates with ICF’s corporate financial systems and makes data analysis easier and less time consuming. This resource will primarily support ICF’s Demand Side Management programs in Michigan, eventually expanding to other projects. The ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of general accounting, budgeting, reporting, and financial management principles, practices, and requirements.Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the financial performance of contracts – run rate, profitability analysis, budget variance; prepare monthly forecasts for large energy efficiency/DSM projects in the Michigan region.

  • Prepare and update client-facing forecasts, unbilled analysis, and variance reports on a regular basis.

  • Meet with clients on a monthly and ad-hoc basis to review budgets, spending, forecasts, and variances.

  • Meet with Regional Finance Manager and Operations Leads, Corporate Finance, and Senior Management to review and discuss program financial performance, forecasts, and variances.

  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis using a variety of software tools and prepare reports for senior management.

  • Assist with timely invoicing; coordinate, track, and monitor invoicing process monthly; assist in producing invoice required supporting documentation.

  • Work closely with program staff regarding financial management and corporate-wide initiatives; assist with preparation of supporting analysis for periodic project performance and revenue reviews.

  • Conduct analyses of project costs, risks, and contractual performance factors, review and maintain adherence to performance based contract terms.

  • Review and validate bookings and backlog; centralize and maintain log of contracts, POs, and change orders.

  • Manage a workload of 5-10 large projects with comparative analysis and models.

  • Assist with preparation of commercial cost proposals.

  • Assist with research, data gathering and compilation, and documentation as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related field.

  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience as a financial analyst, project analyst, or related position.

  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience with business intelligence software such as Costpoint, Hyperion, Cognos, TM1, PowerBI, Alteryx, or similar.

  • 1+ years of experience with project financial analysis and forecasting, auditing, and information analysis, preferably in consulting or services based enterprise.

  • 1+ years of experience working with Microsoft Excel including proficiency in basic formulas, equations, functions, and pivot tables.

  • 1+ years of experience writing macros, working in PowerPivot and/or Power BI a big plus, but not required.
