Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, applied statistics, information technology, or a related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working with data sets

  • 5 years of experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis

  • 5 years of experience using SQL or other querying languages to create data sets

  • 2 years of leadership, management and administration experience

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite

  • Knowledge of statistical software like Minitab, SPSS, R or SAS

  • 5 years of experience working in the BI/data service as engineer/developer or architect

  • Experience reporting project status, scope changes and critical metrics to all stakeholders, including senior and executive management, preferably in an Agile environment

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment through strategic planning, prioritization and task delegation

  • Experience working with complex SQL, ETL technologies

  • Experience with using work item tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps

  • Experience creating object models

  • Practical experience working with AWS or Azure

  • Experience with data warehouse/lake, data virtualization architecture and BI technologies (such as MicroStrategy, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI )

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with business stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment; ability to identify non-obvious solutions to complex problems

  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills; ability to manage, mentor and inspire direct reports

  • Experience with contact center is a plus

Job Summary

The Director, Business Intelligence leads a team of focused individuals who work to analyze business information data to drive our business forward. They assist senior leadership with the development of the team’s strategic plan, work to implement it on their team, and spend their time growing and developing team leaders and team members. They integrate, transform and improve volumes of data at the project or enterprise level for streamlined processes, greater efficiencies and smarter, more informed decision-making. This will include managing and organizing data, automating reports and data exchanges, and developing web-based data visualizations and self-serve BI for various business stakeholders.


  • Communicate and embody the culture, vision and overall direction of the team

  • Lead, guide and evaluate the work of direct-report leaders

  • Work with senior leadership to implement the strategic plan for the team

  • Identify how data can be used to drive automation and efficiency

  • Find ways for data to be used to re-imagine or bypass the current business processes

  • Look for new technologies that will meet business needs in the future

  • Lead the design and implementation of data and BI solutions to organize data from multiple sources, automate aggregation and transformations, and develop web-based data visualizations for various business stakeholders

  • Lead, develop and grow a team of data engineers, data architects and BI developers, contributing to their technical and professional development

  • Lead the selection and implementation of technologies to support the data integration, data discovery, data quality, data analytics and business intelligence tools

  • Lead and assign variable length projects to the Data Services and Business Intelligence team

  • Deliver regular feedback to the team for motivation and growth, and work with team members to craft a career vision that is inspiring and meaningful

  • Document project requirements and define technical requirements

  • Track overall and detailed project statuses and regularly communicate status to the external stakeholders and direct manager

  • Support the development of data strategies, support the development of a strong data governance framework

  • Manage all phases of full life-cycle implementation projects, including blueprinting, design, development, testing, UA, deployment and support
