Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, management information systems, or a related field or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a data modeling role

  • 3 years of experience creating company data models and relational models for applications and analytics

  • 3 years of experience creating canonical models in XML or JSON

  • 1 year of experience with intersystem communication strategies, including ESB and web services

  • Experience creating relational models for transactional or operational applications

  • Experience with modeling tools, such as StarUML or ER/Studio

  • Knowledge of XML or JSON data models

  • Knowledge of enterprise data models

  • Knowledge of open data standards

Job Summary

The Data Modeler works with business owners and Data Architecture and Data Governance team members to provide conceptual, logical, semantic and canonical data models of key enterprise concepts.

The Data Modeler communicates their models and advice to implement technology solutions to engineering teams. They also contribute to the enterprise data model.

The Data Modeler acts as a glue between Business, Data Governance and Product teams to understand the requirements, drive/participate in conversations to get clarity and build/update data models to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create various data models

  • Take ownership of data modeling for Rocket Data Fabric products

  • Handle day-to-day work on maintaining and expanding the conceptual, logical, semantic and canonical data models of key enterprise concepts

  • Assist in the development of and work with data architects to create the company/enterprise data model

  • Align business definitions with model implementations with data governance stewards

  • Produce canonical schema in XML and JSON for critical company entities

  • Extend canonical schema for new attributes per engineering requests

  • Communicate the data model life cycle management to appropriate team members
