GM Financial Analytics Scientist – Loss Forecasting & Portfolio Analytics in Detroit, Michigan
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Loss Forecasting & Portfolio Analytics, the Analytics Scientist will be responsible for international consumer portfolio risk analytics. The major responsibilities include loss forecast model development, valuation, implementation, monitoring and communication. In addition, this position will be responsible for developing analytical tools to improve the lending strategy and monitoring the portfolio throughout the life of each contract. This includes providing support for the lending strategy (risk appetite), assisting with loss inputs for pricing purposes, supporting the auto decision logic, and designing the tools to achieve optimal collection and salvage practices.
- Develop statistical models for loan originations, collections and loss forecasting within GMF International Operations
Incorporate the latest modeling methodologies to challenge existing models for better predictive power
Responsible for creating and running various reports to monitor portfolio credit performance, including ownership of monthly monitoring of key risk metrics
Identify opportunities to improve the business, such as enhancing auto-decision logic (ADL), providing input on risk strategies, and maximizing profitability
Interact with Risk and Pricing leaders to ensure consistency and thoroughness in pricing processes, setting return targets and new products.
Monitor the Credit Scoring Framework, and inventory of existing models. Monitor model performance and provide recommendations to senior management
Document model development and testing process to meet model validation requirements
Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or related.
High proficiency with SAS/R and SQL
Demonstrated skills in applying statistics, econometrics, and/or statistical learning to
solve practical problem with large datasets.
- Ability to translate complex data analysis and modeling methodology into results that
can be understood by business customers
- Capacity to positively influence internal/external customers, developed negotiation skills.
