Ford Enterprise Connectivity (EC) organization developing best-in-class ‘Connected Vehicle’ products globally by leveraging the cutting-edge technologies. Vehicle Communication platform team is looking for qualified Systems Engineer to develop Communication Protocol strategies, guidelines and deliver Ford Telematics communication protocol specifications to support Connected Vehicle product launches.
What you’ll be able to do:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to gain in-depth understanding of each product requirements and functionality
Develop communication protocol solutions and design the message contracts to meet functional, non-functional and customer experience requirements
Develop technical specifications by applying industry standard protocols including TCP, UDP, HTTP, MQTT, BLE, SMS etc.. and vehicle Data formats (GPB, JSON etc.)
Develop technical and business architecture strategies and roadmaps for Embedded Modem and cloud integration by working with multiple stakeholders including suppliers, Cloud, Cellular Carrier, Vehicle Engineering and business teams
Develop precise and audience focused documentation/specification by applying industry standard modeling methodologies and concepts
Work closely with Product Owners and Development teams to triage launch and post-launch customer issues
On need basis lead defect triage sessions to determine the root cause and develop strategies for interim and permanent solutions
The minimum requirements we seek:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, or Electronics
6+ years of programming experience in any languages (C, C++. Java, .Net, Python etc.) (including internship/co-op/course work)
6+ years of experience with Web Services and IoT related products (including internship/co-op/course work)
3+ years of experience in Vehicle telematics, cellular communications, data analytics, V2V communications, vehicle connectivity feature implementations (including internship/co-op/course work)
3+ years of hands on experience in Application and Transport layer protocol stack ( like TCP, UDP, IP, QUIC, HTTP2/3, MQTT etc..) (including internship/co-op/course work)
6+ years of developing technical specifications by applying by applying industry standard Architecture concepts, modeling and patterns (including internship/co-op/course work)
6+ years of experience of XML, SOAP, REST, UML, Message Flows, SOA Security, Microservices and Messaging concepts (including internship/co-op/course work)
6+ Experience in using Architecture/Software modeling concepts and tools (any standard tool) (including internship/co-op/course work)
Our preferred requirements:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, or Electronics
Prior experience in Vehicle electrical architecture, Embedded Software Development, Connectivity related product development/delivery is a plus
Knowledge and experience with systems architecture and engineering fundamentals and interoperability standards and emerging trends
Strong knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture, Micro Services Architecture and hands-on implementation experience with Enterprise Applications and Integration patterns
Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) and Telematics is preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate through working teams across multiple departments
Ability to collaborate with large cross-functional organizations under aggressive timelines and sporadic heavy workloads
Ability to prioritize tasks on hand by evaluating long-term implications
Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Self-learner and should be easily adapt to new concepts, tools and methodologies
