What you will be able to do
As a key member of our Safety Electronics team, you will help design and develop hardware and functional models that provide best-in-class behavior for features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, cross traffic alert, active park assist and 360 camera systems. You will leverage your background in driver assistance technologies to focus on the development of interface specifications, functional safety analysis, cyber security and systems modeling for many of our DAT features/functions. You will:
Drive the design, development and Functional Safety (FuSa) model creation for new ADAS features in support of Ford feature owners
Lead the development of Feature specifications, FMEAs, robustness disciplines and DVP
Understand the performance requirements for the sensing system, establish feature model to operate with the sensor performance envelop and establish procedures to verify performance both quantitatively and subjectively
Understand FuSa sensor-system interactions in terms of vehicle dynamics to identify possible improvements and trade-offs, identifying changes needed to improve performance and meet objectives
Establish System objectives and ensure system operation to meet the objectives through structured component, sub-system and system level test methodologies
Work with the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Team to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle level testing
Closely coordinate with feature development engineers to support execution of design verification plans to ensure proper feature-level performance
Support Sign-off of Feature Level performance per a given vehicle
The minimum requirements we seek
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
3+ years of experience with product development (internship/co-op experience allowed)
1+ year of experience with engineering specification development (internship/co-op experience allowed)
1+ year of experience with embedded hardware and/or software design (internship/co-op experience allowed)
Our preferred requirements
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Understanding of FMEA, DVPR, EMC and environmental testing
Experience with computer vision and tracking of humans/pedestrians
Experience with the development of automotive sensors (e.g. cameras, radars, etc.) and ECU’s
Experience reviewing, categorizing and analyzing field data to determine error states/failure modes
Experience developing system specifications, conducting technical design reviews, working with interfacing functional organizations and verification/validation methods for DAT features/functions
Software engineering and algorithm development experience
Development time in any language (e.g. C, C++, Python, Matlab, etc.)
Developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests
Data collection and analysis
