What you will be able to do

At Ford, we are creating advanced vehicle concepts that are seamless extensions of our total connected lives. In this important role, you will lead the design, development, validation and implementation of new Cellular-Vehicle2Everything (C-V2X) Features. This will involve creating Development Plans, Feature Specifications, FMEAs, Validation Methods and robustness methods for New Driver Assist Features. You will:

  • Develop simulation models/conduct vehicle testing to prove out and refine feature performance

  • Produce sensor system requirements and develop models to operate within the sensing system envelop

  • Understand system interactions and impact to vehicle dynamics, identifying potential improvements and changes to meet requirements

  • Establish feature objectives and ensure that system operations meet objectives through structured, component, subsystem and system level test methodologies

  • Work with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) teams to develop CAE test procedures for early issue identification and reduction of vehicle testing dependency

  • Closely work with other functional teams to identify and validate Feature interfaces, ensuring that interface requirements are properly cascaded in a timely manner

  • Lead supplier activities to meet all requirements (e.g. cost, quality, weight, timing, etc.)

  • Lead the resolution of issues to closure and manage design and engineering changes

  • Work with other functional teams on vehicle validation

  • Support all signoff activities on feature performance for a given vehicle program

  • Lead continuous quality improvement and cost optimization for C-V2x and other related Driver Assist Features

  • Lead the implementation of FORD product development process/quality operation system and ensure the milestone deliverables are completed on time with quality and within cost targets

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

  • 3+ years of experience with communication protocols with the Automotive Industry (e.g. Vehicle To Vehicle, Vehicle To Infrastructure Technologies, etc.)

  • 1+ year of experience in developing features and/or functions with Electrical, Chassis, Powertrain and/or Vehicle Engineering

  • 1+ year of experience with Matlab/Simulink, CANalyzer and CANape

Our preferred requirements

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering Image Processing or AI

  • 2+ years of experience with Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, Microautobox, CANalyzer, CANape

  • Project Management Skills

  • Experience in bench and vehicle level testing

  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design

  • Software architecture, modular application development with Model/software, strong embedded experience

  • Development of production software

  • Experience in data collection and analysis of real time sensing systems
