What you will be able to do

As a key member of a low-speed path planning and controls group within the Ford Research and Advanced Driver Assist Technology team, you will apply your creativity and ingenuity to envisioning and developing new automated and semi-automated driving features. Your efforts will specifically focus on the creation of leading-edge trailering and parking technologies. You will:

  • Build and test new low speed vehicle control algorithms to robustly operate on onboard embedded ECUs

  • Create within a design environment featuring CAE models and Simulink/Stateflow/C++ Conduct performance testing using lab/bench and in-vehicle test environments

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Robotics

  • Two or more years of experience in a control systems environment (coursework/internship/co-op allowed)

Our preferred requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or Robotics

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills

  • Experience developing control algorithms using Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, etc.

  • Solid background in classical and modern controls

  • dSPACE experience for rapid control prototyping

  • Development/tuning experience creating control system algorithms

  • Expertise with C/C++ Knowledge of remote sensing systems (e.g., RADARs, Cameras, LIDARs, GPS, etc.)

  • CAE background with CarSim or other vehicle dynamics modeling software

  • Vehicle network (CAN and CANalyzer/CANape) experience
