What you will be able to do

You will perform a critical role in advancing the leading-edge application software research needed to deliver in-vehicle software frameworks that drive emerging task-specific and high-compute platforms for smart vehicles in a smart world (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine learning, data fusion, cyber security, etc.). You will work closely with production customers (Central Software, Controls/AI, DAT, Mobility, IT) to build a roadmap of projects and technical support. You will:

  • Research and analyze the latest software design techniques, processes and industry trends

  • Craft “best in industry” research to production deployment

  • Perform competitive analyses

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging advancements for both automotive and automotive enabling applications and technologies

  • Leverage machine learning techniques to generate requirements, testing and validations

  • Develop and maintain software/hardware integration test environments and simulation tools

  • Debug complex software

  • Evaluate and test software and hardware components for production readiness

  • Participate in technical workshops to identify innovations that enable software development and compute architecture vehicle advancements and framework design

  • Write and publish IEEE formatted research papers

  • Participate in committees and industry consortiums/conferences

  • Limited travel to cover business critical Software Conferences, Industry or Vendor Events or collaborate with remote team members (e.g. Palo Alto, California)

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

  • Three or more years of software development experience (coursework/internship/co-op allowed)

  • At least one year of experience working in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence (coursework/internship/co-op allowed)

  • A minimum of one year of experience with deep learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe2, Keras, etc.) (coursework/internship/co-op allowed)

  • One plus year of experience working with various operating systems (e.g., QNX, Linux, etc.) (coursework/internship/co-op allowed)

Our preferred requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

  • Five or more years of experience with embedded software development in C/C++ At least five years of experience developing automotive software solutions

  • Three or more years of experience developing artificial intelligent or machine learning applications

  • At least two years of software development lifecycle experience (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, etc.)

  • One or more years of technical project management experience

  • A minimum of one year of experience making formal, written presentations to teams and management

  • Proficiency with scripting and new programming languages (e.g., Lua, Go, Rust, Python, etc.)

  • Familiarity with software architecture

  • Experience with continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins), version control systems (e.g., GitHub), unit testing frameworks (e.g., gtest), containers (e.g., Docker), static and dynamic code analysis tools (e.g., clang-tidy, Valgrind), debugging tools (e.g., gdb) and code beautify tools (e.g., clang-format)

  • Ability to think strategically while integrating customer use cases and complex interactions

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented with a passion for leading-edge technologies and emerging software trends

  • Proven success identifying new software concepts and developing a rapid prototype environment

  • Ability to develop a work plan and lead a software/hardware rapid prototype project

  • In-depth understanding of artificial intelligence and machine learning
