What you will be able to do
As part of our vision to revolutionize the driving experience, our Vehicle Architecture and Engineering Organization is creating state-of-the-art vehicle-level driver assist technologies such as adaptive cruise control, pro trailer backup assist, active park assist, intelligent lighting, pre-collision assist with AEB, Ford Co-Pilot 360 and other SAE Level 2/3 autonomous technologies.
As an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Parking Feature Attribute Engineer, you will play a key role in achieving and exceeding customer expectations. You will develop and implement feature requirements and specifications at a system and sub-system level and validate them according to the systems engineering model. Collaborating with research engineers, user experience teams, designers, hardware and software developers, you will define, develop and verify customer-facing attributes and performance capabilities. You will also develop new verification methods and work with vehicle, hardware-in-the-loop, model-in-the-loop and other advanced testing methodologies to validate your feature. You will:
Define and document the vehicle-level acceptance criteria for ADAS features
Lead/support the development of verification plans and verification methods
Collaborate with global functional partners to meet system and vehicle level performance requirements
Cascade system-level requirements to functional partners
Drive the development and sign-off of ADAS features
Support feature calibration studies
Develop MATLAB and CAN tools for data collection and analysis
Leverage HiL and CAE methods for feature calibration and performance verification
Plan and execute real-world evaluations of ADAS features via vehicle/HIL/virtual testing
Identify system problems and issues
Coordinate root-cause analysis with internal functions and external suppliers
Benchmark competitors and monitor public domain requirements
The minimum requirements we seek
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
One or more years of experience in developing Driver Assistance Features domain using radars, cameras, lidars, ultrasonic sensors and/or other related vehicle systems (e.g., body, electrical, chassis, powertrain)
Our preferred requirements
Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Software, Systems, Product Development) or Computer Science
Familiarity with actuators and control systems
Experience applying Systems Engineering principles
Knowledge of robotic verification and testing methods
Expertise in solving problems with electromechanical systems
Understanding of differential GPS equipment
Experience using automotive interfaces (e.g., CAN, CANFD, Autosar, Auto-Ethernet, etc.)
Experience using Vector CANape, CANalyzer and dSPACE Controls Desk or similar tools
Experience with Matlab/Simulink
Understanding of verification techniques (e.g., design verification methods, vehicle data acquisition/analysis)
Experience with virtual validation methods (e.g., HIL/MIL/SIL)
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and project management skills
Unyielding passion for quality and customer satisfaction
