The HALO NOC Engineer role is a 24x7x356 mid to senior level role that is the top escalation point in the NOC for client issues and configurations. Engineers execute highly technical changes and client requests in a timely manner, respecting change windows and client requests. Engineers provide mentorship, guidance and review tickets for their junior team members. In addition to operational tasks, Engineers work on projects, documentation, procedure changes and become HALO subject matter experts for particular Nuspire technologies.
Configure and troubleshoot advanced/complex client requests for Nuspire?s managed products and services
Process and remediate escalated NOC connectivity and availability alerts for all clients
Identify and develop documentation and knowledge base articles for all NOC members
Document all actions in cases to effectively communicate information internally and to client
Open tickets with Vendor support and coordinate solutions when necessary
Run and analyze SIEM Reporting. Perform investigations and RCA based on findings
Work on projects as assigned by leadership team
Submit appropriate internal bug, support and feature requests
Perform large- and small-scale firmware upgrades for all clients
Attend relevant meetings and take notes as needed
24-hour On-Call rotation
Perform Global change requests and script pushes
Review Technician tickets for technical and process errors
Provide overall guidance, instruction and leadership to NOC and clients
Maintain and expand working knowledge of current managed technologies and network security landscape
Required Skills and Experience:
Multi-vendor firewall experience (Fortigate, Palo Alto, Sonicwall, Cisco, etc.)
3+ years experience working in professional IT environment working on advanced networking infrastructure
Advanced Understanding of the following networking concepts and tools:
IPv4/IPv6 Addressing and Subnetting
Understanding of UDP and TCP communication flow
Networking ports and protocols
Routing: Static and Dynamic
Packet capture/tcpdumpProblem Solving
Wireless Networking (802.11 standards)
VLAN, WAN, LAN, Security Zones
VPN IPSEC and SSL
Email Protocols and Functionality
Understanding of VOIP configuration and protocols
Ability to use common networking tools (ping, nslookup, tracert, etc.) for troubleshooting and diagnosis
Attention to Detail
Ability to write technical documentation for varying levels of technical personnel
Strong Time and Project Management skils
Understanding of IT Security concepts, best practices and market direction
Strong Professional Communication: Written and Oral
Ambitious Team Player
Strong Critical Thinking
Ability to assist in network-related Incident Response
Advanced proficiency with the following technologies:
Multiple Vendor Firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, Meraki, Cisco etc.
Firewall Cloud Management (Panorama, FortiManager, etc)
Automation scripting (Powershell, batch files, etc.)
Design, implementation, security of Authentication (LDAP, RADIUS, etc.)
SQL or Database experience
Vision for Process Improvement
Experience or advanced knowledge with Endpoint Security
Ability to train/mentor junior team members
Experience with firewall deployments in cloud infrastructure such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc.
Advanced proficiency with the following technologies:
Endpoint Protection (SentinelOne, Crowdstrike, Cylance, CarbonBlack)
Wireless Controller/Access Points
Learning Management System (Adobe Captivate, etc.)
Associates degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or relevant equivalent work experience
Network-related certification Network+, CCNA, CWNA, CCNP, CCIE
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or relevant alternative
Master?s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or relevant alternative
Industry Certifications: Security+, Linux+, CCENT, CySA+, CEH,
Palo Alto Network certifications: PCCSA, PCNSA, or PCNSE
Fortinet NSE Certification
