The Salvation Army - Metro Division Support Specialist in Clinton Township, Michigan
Overview
Maintain a safe and orderly recovery environment for clients, staff, visitors, and guests through observing people, places, events, and reporting or correcting situations detrimental to the status quo.
Responsibilities
• Present a positive, courteous, professional role model at all times• Provide for the safety, comfort and security of clients• Maintain order, safety, discipline, and a substance free environment by walking around observing people, property and events taking place• Oversee clients during meal times in the dining room• Investigate all serious occurrences/issues that take place during the shift• Communicate verbally and in writing, to the Shelter Supervisor and/or the Building Supervisor, all serious occurrences/issues that take place during shift immediately• Report any unusual behaviors displayed by clients to the appropriate counselors• Supervise and direct clients during fire, bomb threats and tornado drills and events• Accompany clients to outside activities and specified inside activities• Assist in client room checks and searches in accordance with the Harbor Light policy and procedures• Maintain client sign out sheet ensuring that individuals are signing on and off the property• Give oversight to clients in regards to their assigned duties which keep all rooms and hallways clean• Report in writing on Maintenance Work Order Sheets, all things requiring repair, to the maintenance Department• Offer positive support to clients who may be experiencing difficulties. All such occurrences must be written up and given to the counselor for filing in client file• Provide orientation for new clients in regards to program rules as well as policies and procedures• Clean, disinfect and make beds of clients after discharge• Participate in staff development sessions as required• Supervise clients during in house activities not conducted by clinical staff
Qualifications
• Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent• Familiarity with Computers, Microsoft Office Applications, and Email• Experience using Electronic Medical Records systems preferred• Possess good communication skills• T. B. Test and police clearance required.
