Founded in 1945, MEC is a manufacturer that provides a broad range of Prototyping, Metal Fabrication, Tube Bending, Machining, Welding, Coating, and Value-Added Assembly services to a variety of markets including Commercial Vehicle, Power Sports & Recreational Vehicles, Agriculture, Construction & Forestry, Military, Mining, Automotive, and Power Generation companies. We continue to have an aggressive growth plan, operating 20 manufacturing facilities that are strategically located near its customers in seven states.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Communicate with assigned suppliers to promote understanding of MEC requirements (purchase orders, contracts, etc.).

  • Request quotes from suppliers to drive cost savings, develop cost models and drive commodity strategy execution.

  • Mitigate risk through proactive analysis of procurement processes and systems.

  • Collaborate interdepartmentally as new projects are developed to identify sources and or supplier competency requirements.

  • Utilize personal influence to drive Continuous Improvement through the application of procurement processes and techniques.

Skills You Will Acquire

  • Gain confidence in your ability to influence people and manage potentially contentious situations to a positive result.

  • Act as a liaison to all areas of the organization while you drive execution within the supply base.

  • Current enrollment in a BS program with a major in Supply Chain or a degree related to Supply Chain or Operations emphasis

  • Minimum second semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits

  • Availability to work between 40+ hours per week in Summer 2021

  • Dependable, self-motivated and engaged learner
