Position Summary

Responsible to prepare financial and operation analysis for Retail Operations; analyze sales, labor, inventory, audit and operational data to identify trends and interpret results; make recommendations to management based on findings. Partners with cross-functional departments as necessary.

Minimum Requirements


Bachelor's Degree (Required) Accounting

Finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Job Experience

Two years experience in accounting and/or financial analysis or related area. Experience in retail operations helpful.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

Participate in business decisions through operating and trend analysis, value-added assessments, and risk/opportunity analysis. Prepare Retail related reports and analysis (schedule and/or ad hoc) ensuring reports meet business needs; interpret report results, prepare data summaries and present outcomes and recommendations to management accordingly.

Assist in the preparation of Retail Operations financial analysis and reporting including but not limited to monthly variance analysis and explanation, profitability and cost analysis, and evaluate operational data to assist management decision making.

Develop, prepare and maintain various data reporting tools (i.e. spreadsheets, databases, graphs, etc.) related to retail operations; provide timely creation and execution of reports and analysis for retail data to include, but not limited to, sales, labor, inventory, retail/merchandising promotions, store performance, etc.; ensure data provides the appropriate level of detail or summarization in order for information to be actionable.

Work with cross-functional departments (i.e., Retail Operations, Merchandising, Finance, etc.) to collaborate on projects, reports, etc. and to provide information and data analysis to management; analyze such data and provide recommendations to support effective decision-making.

Consult and educate associates and management on financial data, analysis and reports to assist with solving business issues.

Participate in department projects and/or strategic initiatives; provide ad hoc financial analysis, analyze retail program test initiatives, develop reporting dashboards, research/monitor retail industry trends, etc.

Work with Retail Operations management on the annual budget development, quarterly and period forecasting in partnership with Finance/Accounting, and identify operational opportunities related to sales and labor forecasting.

Act as a back up when needed, to provide administrative support such as: coordinate conferences; respond to inquiries (phone, in person or email) or direct inquiries to appropriate contact in a timely manner, etc.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with associates at all levels within the organization. Strong analytical and numerical skills, strong attention to detail and effective organization, prioritization, multi-tasking and time management skills. Excellent financial/spreadsheet skills and the ability to work with queries/databases. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) required.
