Shopper Marketing - Senior Associate Brand Manager

Function Overview

As part of the Shopper Marketing team, this role is the Account Lead for the marketing relationship with priority Independent Retailers and Appliance Buy Groups. This role requires a Shopper-First approach to building Go-To-Market marketing strategies and annual plans, as well as day to day management to grow the Whirlpool portfolio business and health of the brands at these accounts.

Shopper Marketing is part of the Brand and Strategy Organization. The Shopper Marketing team mission is to: Serve the rational and emotional needs of the shopper across their shopping journey - directly and in partnership with retailers and key stakeholders - making the shopping experience better tomorrow than it is today. The team is divided into Account Leads and Battleground Teams. Account Leads serve as the marketing plan owner and relationship lead with the retailer marketing team, in close collaboration with the internal sales team. The battleground teams - In-store, Retailer.com, and Communications - work to provide expertise and execution support to Account Leads in partnership with internal teams and external agencies/partners. This position reports to a Shopper Marketing Senior Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and strengthening of the marketing partnership with priority Independent Retailers and Appliance Buy Groups, adapting to varying levels of marketing expertise and capability. Serve as main point of contact with the retailer marketing team. Partner with the internal sales team to build and execute plans.

  • Lead marketing planning and oversee plan execution in partnership with the retailer including investment negotiation, plan development, media planning, content development oversight and measurement planning.

  • Take a shopper-first approach to plan development and solution design. Advocate for the shopper needs with the retailer and sales team.

  • Collaborate with Shopper Marketing Battleground Teams to execute the plan and inform future strategies/opportunities.

  • Travel Expected - Max 25% for Retailer Meetings, Retailers Events (no travel required before January 2021, anticipate lower overall percent travel moving forward)

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3+ years of experience in two or more of the following: Marketing / Shopper Marketing, Product Development, Media, Brand Management, eCommerce or Sales.

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing

  • Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills

  • Proficient computer skills, especially with Google Slides and Sheets, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment, overcome challenges, and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders

  • Strong influencing and consultative skills - includes advocating for the shopper, aligning objective across teams and partnering internally and externally to grow the business and brand equity

  • Project management, strong time management and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships

  • Proven analytical skills and ability to successfully integrate different streams of information into sound propositions

  • Proven strength in communication, prioritization and proactive management
