We currently have an opening for a Sensor Electrical Engineer for our Sensors Development Team at our Benton Harbor, MI corporate office. You will be a member of Whirlpool’s Electronics and Electrical Systems Organization, a global team of close to 500 people developing cutting-edge electronics for home appliances. You will report to the Sensors Team Manager based in North America, with peers in USA, Poland, and Brazil. Your primary role is to develop new sensors and also to support projects by reusing the current sensors portfolio Whirlpool maintains. This role has global, cross-category impact, the day-by-day, therefore, requires the Engineer to reach multiple other teams such as Software, Hardware and System Integrators to assure overall performance of the components.
Write specifications for new sensors.
Develop new sensors using Electronics, Mechanics and Physics knowledge
Validate and release new sensors, or variants in partnership with laboratory teams
Own roadmaps and strategic plans around specific sensors
Support cost and quality improvement projects over existing parts
Availability for travel (regional/international, once a year on average)
Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
3+ years of experience in Electronics/Electromechanics development
Masters Degree of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in sensors application or development
Knowledge/Certification on 6-Sigma tools and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis
Familiar with Underwriter Laboratories (UL) / International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard, preferred IEC 60335-1
Presentation and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally and globally
Proficient on creating schedules and executing them independently
