Provide engineering technical leadership to customers and sales team on proper product application, selection of products, and optimal solutions for pneumatic requirements. Evaluate existing 80 customer new business opportunities traveling to customer locations to provide strong technical guidance and build key customer relationships. Facilitate execution of cost, information and prototype requests (CIP) with internal personnel, to support these new and existing customer opportunities. Works with strategic sourcing, sales, marketing, and finance to develop cost estimates and respond to customer within a timely manner. Suggest development and oversee creation of new optimal solution products when existing products cannot achieve the applications requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes customer requests for feasibility and determines most effective and timely method for completion. Acts as project manager in resolving open issues, tracking open items and closing out open CIPs within prescribed timeframe. Responsible for final decision on requests effecting product form, fit, or functions. Directs efforts of Applications Engineers, Designers, Model Shop and Lab Techs as required.
Works with finance, marketing and strategic sourcing representative in estimating component costs, assembly rates and finished product pricing within prescribed timeframe.
Performs product evaluation/testing projects on a wide variety of compressors/vacuum pumps as needed. Verifies performance of products to meet customer requirements. Develops performance curves and works with sales and marketing to develop advertised performance information as needed.
Ownership of the technical service to strategic existing and new 80 OEM’s accounts. Field, investigate, and resolve questions and applications issues with existing products. Develop strong relationship with and serve as a technical resource on conference calls and customer visits with sales and marketing. Expected up to 50% domestic travel with some overseas travel required.
Guide development in creating new best solution products when existing products cannot handle the application requirements. Continuously drive for engineering excellence and development of new processes for world-class pneumatic solutions.
Initiate prototype Bill of Materials, parts orders, shop orders, and lab testing orders for customer prototypes. Review and approve prototype for shipment to customer. Complete model setups of new derivative products. Follow established standard work and process for above.

Mechanical aptitude and mental/physical/visual acuity. Ability to analyze application requirements, provides failure analysis, select components and make recommendations to meet system requirements. Engineering discipline experience with a focus on mechanical, pneumatic, and/or fluid power systems.

Competency in drawing interpretation, spreadsheet analysis database research and presentation skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to manage customer personalities effectively and timely. Excellent written and verbal skills coupled with the ability to maintain and generate product application literature, media, and technical articles. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize resources and project timelines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field
Demonstrated experience working with technical manufactured products. Pneumatic and/or fluid power systems experience preferred.
Basic understanding of motors, electronics, and regulatory/certification process associated with such products (UL/CE).
Demonstrated competency in computer design and 3-D modeling. Solidworks preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft software and other project management tools
Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to dig into applications and ask the right questions to optimize pneumatic solutions for customers
