Saint-Gobain Applications Development Engineering Manager in Beaverton, Michigan

Lead global custom product development and systems integration activities for Bioprocessing customers for multiple sites. Manage new development engineering programs from design through commercialization. Ensure programs are delivered to the manufacturing teams in a timely, consistent and high quality manner. Ensure effective communications with customers and support teams. Develop people, technology and tools that continuously improve the department’s performance while exceeding customer expectations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline.

  • 10+ years’ experience in personnel management, technology implementation, and project management.

  • High level of human relations as well as verbal and written communication skills.

  • High level of engineering aptitude in tool design, automation, injection molding, and processing.

  • High level of material knowledge, specifically thermoplastics and silicone.

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) within 2 years of taking position.

  • Product Development: Gather and apply appropriate technical resources to customer programs which support global business growth objectives and strategies. Ensure the application engineering team fully understands the customer’s problem statement. Deliver efficiently designed, fully functioning products, which meet or exceed specifications, are on time, on budget with full validation documentation to internal and external customers. Ensure team members effectively communicate to customers throughout projects to achieve high customer satisfaction. Ensure team conducts all activities in compliance with appropriate QMS provisions.

  • Personnel Development: Provide training, experiential opportunities and regular feedback for product designers, application engineers and other team members which allow them the best opportunities for personal and professional growth. Hire and develop new employees to meet the need of the business as it is today and what is needed to maintain a competitive edge in the future. Set team and individual objectives, develop metrics in harmony with strategic objectives and ensure team members have the tools needed for successful implementation of objectives.

  • Technology Leadership: Seek out innovative technologies which can be applied to development engineering activities in support of global business objectives. Implement appropriate technologies which continuously improve current processes and expand department capabilities. Position the department to effectively meet new opportunities and future market challenges.

  • Strategic Planning & Implementation – Develop strategic plans which allow the implementation of a highly effective and efficient application development organization designed to support global business objectives. Strategies should focus on facilities, equipment, human resources, organization structure and the implementation of standardized processes.
