FCA US, LLC Senior Project Center On Board Diagnostics Engine in Auburn Hills, Michigan

The successful candidate will join a growing team of engineers who provide diagnostic solutions in a Project Center completely through to the production of FCA’s Global Powertrain Development. The successful candidate will be adaptable as the Project Center accelerates after project kickoff. Also, the successful candidate will work seamlessly with his Advanced OBD colleagues who performed Technology Readiness Level work on diagnostics for some or all of the technologies prior to the kickoff of the Project Center. The successful candidate will prepare the OBD checklist for a new project, identify multiple solutions to meet OBD requirements and benchmark FCA versus the competitive set for the project. The successful candidate will apply the inputs from the Advanced OBD development group per the production guidelines. Also the successful candidate will provide leadership on an entire project, and provide management-ready project status reports of Key Progress Indicators (KPIs) to the Production OBD Supervisor. Also, the candidate will provide insight and leadership for performing OBD gap analysis, prepare OBD algorithm performance goals for review by Production OBD Supervisor. Duties include leading OBD issue resolution work among multi-disciplinary “Centers of Excellence (CoEs)” who are responsible for delivering embedded software for the Powertrain Electronic Control Unit (ECU) family. Lead in the development of KPI status on OBD algorithms and OBD issue resolution status to the Production OBD Supervisor, Project Center Lead, Project Management Coordinators (PMCs) and Engine Management System (EMS) Senior Manager. Present status to Quality Gates from the Application Controls Software Application department — Engine On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) group.Basic Qualifications:•Four year degree relevant to Engineering (I.e. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Information degrees, or other suitable degree related to Engineering from a University)•5 years minimum experience in automotive•2 or more years Matlab / Simulink Tool experience in creation of control algorithms•Experience in creation and validation of On-Board Diagnostics algorithms•Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills with ability to work directly with individuals and groups•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written•Strong project coordination skills•Strong experience leading teams, including multi-disciplinary teams•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint•Demonstrated experience with MS Office applications, including sample presentations in PowerPoint with respect to OBD2•Experience in developing sophisticated diagnostics strategies, such as, but not limited to, after treatment diagnostics, evaporative leak detection diagnostics, or comprehensive component monitoring•Strong understanding of the development of embedded software•Flexibility — must be able to adapt to changing environment with minimal effect on productivity•Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management Preferred Qualifications:•Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a University•2 or more years Matlab / Simulink Tool experience in creation of On-Board Diagnostic algorithms•2 or more years ETAS INCA Tool Experience for collecting OBD2 data•Thorough understanding of application of OBD 2 regulation to the creation and validation of diagnostics for new gasoline or diesel engines•Thorough understanding of developing embedded software•Thorough understanding of developing new gasoline or diesel engines•Demonstrated experienc
