The Head of Global Design is responsible for the selection, program/project management, testing, implementation and financial planning for IT technology solutions and standards. The selected candidate will be responsible for creation and communication of technology road maps, governance of global standards and consistency of technical direction. This role ensures focus on architecture compliance and establishes priorities for design activities to balance current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization. Understands disruptive forces and the business’s economic and financial levers that are susceptible to digital transformation to effectively guide technology investment decisions. Facilitates global ICT alignment through a collaborative, supportive and consultative manner, driving the organization’s technology strategies while balancing regional needs. Leadership objectives include developing a “business-centric” environment, facilitating a philosophy of constant improvement both in service delivery and staff skills; enhancing staff coordination and interaction with other units within Global Operations and the ICT Organization; participating in leadership meetings and major departmental decisions; and fostering collaborative teamwork, responsibility and accountability within the team. Is expected to emphasize a model of leadership, where decision-making and accountability at the level where the work is done is encouraged and the development of a service culture and team performance is rewarded. Must facilitate the development of effective technical and people skills that will enable the staff to assume new responsibilities, and to keep pace with and anticipate the changing technology requirements of the business.
Bachelors of Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
10+ years of ICT experience and/or related experience
Experience managing technical teams
Direct experience with the planning, development, execution of application development projects spanning the entire SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle)
Direct experience with developing and motivating a team of IT professionals, including both internal resources and supplier personnel
Work experience in Infrastructure services and selecting technology standards
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business or related field
Effective interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communications
Ability to work within a team and collaborate effectively
Previous experience in Service Management implementation, partial or complete ITIL Process deployment
Ability to handle multiple assignments and tasks independently/with minimal supervision
Ability to proactively and professionally handle and diffuse conflict ridden & stressful situations
High degree of professionalism, including organizational skills, conversational poise and executive presence
Working knowledge of COBIT
High proficiency in operating standard technology applications such as Google Cloud, MS Office, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.
