Job Description


As an Engineer in Function Development you will work as a team member within a global engineering environment on the development of Vehicle Dynamics Control functions (Stability & Agility and Driving & Assistance) of state­of­the­art Electronic Brake & Safety Systems. Your job profile is aligned to the V­model and includes project specific definition and creation of functional requirements, development of the functional architecture and safety concept during the Project Definition phase. During the Project Test and Integration phase your job profile includes integration, verification and validation in various testing environments such as vehicle, Hardware­in­the­Loop (HIL) or Software­in­the­Loop (SIL).

Core Responsibilities:

­ Defines and creates or analyzes functional system & safety requirements on vehicle level

­ Develops and/or analyzes the functional architecture, the interfaces, the functional blocks

­ Creates and/or analyzes the function specific safety concept

­ Elicitation of customer specific requirements

­ Creates traceability between requirements and functional architecture

­ Plans, executes and documents project specific development & release activities on vehicle level

­ Creates test specifications and documents test results

­ Executes function and application tests in simulation environment (SIL/HIL) and/or vehicle

­ Supports SW setup and support creating prototypical software

­ Interface with customer (OEM)

­ Coordinate build, equipment and maintenance of test vehicles and needed test equipment

­ Interface with departmental personnel in resolution of development issues from above

Required Qualifications:

­ Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline

­ Systematic problem solving skills

­ Excellent communication skills

­ Team player with strong focus on quality and customer orientation

­ Self­dependent with a high degree of passion, dedication and commitment

­ Ability to travel year round (may require travel 3 to 5 months per year)

­ Valid Drivers License

­ Understanding of standard SW and standard HW and their interfaces

­ Understanding of development methods and tools

Experience in testing

­ Capability of abstraction & ability to recognize dependencies and weaknesses and risk

Desired Qualifications:

­ Degree in Engineering discipline with focus on automotive engineering

­ Basic knowledge in data acquisition & vehicle BUS systems

­ Basic knowledge in vehicle mechanics, electrics and electronics

­ Basic Knowledge in Matlab/Simulink

­ Basic Knowledge in Simulation HW & SW (HIL/SIL, CarSim/Carmaker)

­ Basic Knowledge in requirements engineering discipline incl. tools

­ Experience within development of vehicle dynamics, chassis or brakes

­ Advanced vehicle driving and judgment skills (vehicle dynamics area)

­ 2 or more years of experience working in the automotive industry
