Job Overview


TheAdvanced Charging System Leadis responsible for:

  • Developing and designing high voltage charging systems for electrified powertrain applications

  • Ensuring the engineering processes, methods and best practices are followed in developing existing and future technologies

  • Managing and leading advanced projects for AC, DC, Wireless charging and discharging systems, including diagnostics, conformance, interoperability, validation and customer interface requirements

  • Developing and implementing associated standards in SAE, ISO, IEC and IEEE

  • Conducting competitive analysis, coordination of advanced technology projects and participation in advanced projects to validate systems towards production implementation and support resulting updates to SAE, ISO, IEC and IEEE standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of Charging systems research and/or product development experience

  • Understanding of the key functional parameters that can be varied in order to meet higher level system requirements, and the trade-off analyses that are required to determine the optimum system architecture to meet the vehicle level functional objectives

  • Understanding of the engineering development processes to ensure robust design development

  • Ability to review and approve technical documentation including DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s; reviewing DFMEA documentation to ensure proper flow for function, failure mode, and design controls which lead directly in to DVP&R’s

  • Understanding of industry trends in areas of charging systems directing advanced strategic development

  • Ability to define product requirements, select/specify/validate critical systems

  • Ability to develop and standardize processes and methods for product concepts and designs

  • Ability to provide technical guidance and directions during supplier tech reviews and critical design reviews

  • Ability to plan for resources, timelines and milestones for each of the managing projects

  • Fundamental understanding of simulation and emulation tools such as charging conformance, interoperability and validation test equipment for the vehicle system and electrical grid interactions

  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to work in cross functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering

  • Design for Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification

  • Strong background in analytical methods and tools
