Thermo Fisher Scientific Scientist III, Bioinformatics in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Develop infrastructure to process Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) cancer samples using Ion Torrent software and open source tools.
Design, prototype, test and implement data pipelines that execute best-practice NGS data processing techniques.
Collaborate with vendors to design and develop cloud-based architectures capable of processing thousands of paired tumor-normal DNASeq exome samples.
Manage and maintain our Amazon cloud infrastructure. This includes purchasing and renewing our reserved and on-demand instances.
Build and test Virtual Machines for the delivery of software products.
Create and implement plans to process batches of patient samples and develop quality control and validation strategies.
Implement bioinformatics data integration and analysis pipelines. Develop and implement test plans and tests to verify the results from these analyses.
Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science or related field of study.
Must have experience or knowledge of:
Univariate statistical analysis;
Configure and manage AWS instances;
Building and testing virtual machines with Virtual Box or VM Ware;
Scientific programming in Pipeline Pilot, BASH, R, and Python;
Source code management tools;
Next-generation sequencing data;
Analyze NGS runs with Ion Torrent software, using GUI and command line tools;
